Thanks to Bryan on Tumblr we have a pretty important update on Korra production. We all know that Book 3 is well into production and that it seems to be very close to being done, but they are also working on Book 4 and now thanks to this post we know that the Korra Team just had their final Book 4 Animatic meeting.

It may be hard to believe since Book 3 hasn’t even aired yet (SOON!), but we just had the final Korra animatic meeting this afternoon for the Book 4 series finale episode. It’s been bittersweet saying goodbye to so many amazing crew members as their teams have rolled off the production these last few weeks. Pictured here, left to right: Melchior Zwyer (director), Lauren Montgomery (supervising producer), Joaquim Dos Santos (co-executive producer), Ki-Hyun Ryu (supervising producer), me, Owen Sullivan (assistant director), and Mike. In hindsight, I wish we had lined up this shot so it looked like the Mac desktop tiger’s ears were sprouting from Mike’s head. P.S. Though we had the animatic meeting, that still means there’s a TON of work left to do on Book 4. That is still part of the pre-production process.
Animatics are obviously animated storyboards that are used to get an idea of how the completed animation will work. While this is great news as fans knowing that Book 4 is also fairly deep into production it is a pretty sad moment for the crew as many people's work on the show is now done. Full animation will still need to be done plus countless other things, but it is shocking to think that Korra production is so close to the end. Despite all of the huge waits, it doesn't feel like Book 1 aired nearly 2 years ago. Bryan also mentions again that Book 3 is coming "SOON!" I assume we will be getting a trailer at Nick Upfront in about 5 days. What are your thoughts on Korra production going into it's final stages? We still have 2 books to see, but for a lot of the crew work on Korra is over.
