Airspeed Prime here with another Avatar Review. This time I will be reviewing the recently released Korra junior novel titled "Revolution". As far as I know this will be the first review of the book online, no one seems to have gotten it or at the very least reviewed it.
Without going on to long here is my review of the first piece of official Korra merchandise available at retail.

Before I get more in depth on the content itself I will stop to talk about the book itself. It is pretty much standard novel size, in terms of the page dimensions, but has a pretty large pagecount for a junior novel. An unexpected surprise was the 3 pages of screenshots in the middle of the book, that give a hyper abridged version of the story with 15 screenshots. The images are in black an white, with an almost newspaper report feel to them. Another way of the book to show it is adapted from a tv show. The cover is nice and suits the story within, Korra is the main focus naturally with Mako and Tenzin in the background. These two are also fitting, her love interest and mentor.
Back to the content. As I mentioned previously it is a pretty faithful copy of the show, but it leaves out certain moments and has some new dialogue and even a brand new scene or two. These moments made the book worth it for me, it is not just stuff I knew before, there were some interesting new moments. The biggest change from the show to this book was that the book is basically from Korra's perspective, so we get some of her thoughts on scenes, thoughts she never said aloud. Mainly the new stuff consists of her thinking Mako is attractive nearly every time she see's him or other observations like that.
In terms of left out scenes, mainly the story follows Korra, there are only 2 scenes in the whole book where Korra is not in them. These two focus on Amon and The Lieutenant as seen in the show. It means stuff like Mako meeting Asami is very quickly brushed over when Korra meets Asami at the gala. The book is fast paced without feeling light on content.
What I think most people are looking at this book for is for new content. Hence why when I was reading it I took notes on every new thing I saw. So up next I will go through some of these new moments.

Up ahead, Korra noticed several officers from the police force clustered around a burnt out building. She moved in for a closer look, approaching the detective on the scene, who stood in the middle of the smouldering ruins jotting down notes. "Whoa, what happened here?" she asked. "Turf Wars, nothing new" "On page 36 when Korra is brought before Lin, when Lin is described there is a line about her face scars, it does not confirm anything, but is interesting nonetheless.
"Korra could not help thinking that the scars were reminders of a long-ago battle that had been hard-won"Where did Lin get those scars. The book has only two errors from my reading, both continuity errors. Meelo is stated to be 4 years old and Jinora 11, when it has been stated on the Welcome To Republic City Nick Game that Meelo is 5 and Jinora is 10. Which is correct, I am going with the game as it is more Nick involved and probably closer to the shows creators. Ba Gua is mentioned throughout the book when Korra is doing Airbending training. When Korra meets Mako and Bolin after their last match with Hasook, after Mako says that he is an idiot there is a new line from Bolin,
"I'm sorry I didn't realise it earlier! It's a total honour to meet you! I'm a big, huge Avatar Aang fan!"There is a nice scene that if it was in the show would occur after The Revelation, Mako and Bolin talk about the events that have just happened, Bolin tells Mako he just wanted to do something for the two of them like Mako always does. Then there is an extended scene between Korra and Tenzin about Amon's speech about the spirits siding with Amon. Korra wonders if that is why she cannot contact the spirits and Tenzin assures her that would never happen. The pastry that Bolin gives Korra as a gift for saving him is called a Mochi Pastry. The spelling of the place that Mako and Asami have their first date is Kwong's Quisine, someone inform the wiki !!!! The funniest part of the book for me was this bit with Tahno
"Across the restaurant sat a guy in his early twenties with hair so meticulously coiffed, he was giving Asami a run for her yuans."The final extra scene I noticed was a follow up scene that would be at the end of K105, Korra has used Pema's advice and Pema, Ikki and Jinora are eager to hear what happened when Korra returns. There are a lot of other new pieces of dialogue also. Overall this book is well done for what it is. Younger fans will enjoy it a lot, especially those moving on to more challenging books. As for hardcore fans, it all depends really on if these little new moments are enough to warrant the purchase. I think the fact that this is the first mass release piece of Korra merch is also a decent reason to buy it. It is cheap enough online that it will not break anyone's bank account. I do not regret the purchase at all and am happy to own it, it was a quick and enjoyable read and an interesting new way to experience the first half of Book 1 Air.
