News out of nowhere. Dark Horse in a recent Blog post has revealed a new Avatar Book, it will be an ATLA Adult colouring book.
Adult colouring books have become very popular in the last few years with many big franchises getting one or many released, so an Avatar one while perhaps unexpected does make sense.
In terms of details, the book will retail for $14.99 and be released on October 5th 2016 in comic stores. It will feature 45 pages of art for you to colour by artist Jed Henry in collaboration with Mike and Bryan.
My Opinion
I have definitely seen various adult colouring books around for stuff like Harry Potter and even Game Of Thrones, the art is always interesting, but I am not invested enough in them to buy and use a colouring book. Avatar is different, I will buy this book just for some new art even if I never actually attempt to colour anything in. I am excited to see which characters and what scenes are portrayed across the 45 images we will get. I assume this also opens the door for a potential Korra colouring book down the line also.
The art on the cover seems super solid, do if it is 45 pages of this quality I am all in, this could be very fun to try and realistically colour some pieces and perhaps completely switch up the colours on others. Zuko in pink bending green fire, Aang in all black bending yellow air, the possibilities are endless.
Expect at least a video review of this book when it comes out and potentially even a look at my child-like colouring skills!
