Jet was a 16 year old Earth Kingdom teenager, he was the Leader of a band of Freedom Fighters, which consisted of 5 main members: Longshot, Smellerbee, The Duke, Pipsqueak and Sneers and many other unnamed members. Jet was an brilliant Leader, earning the respect and adoration of all his Freedom Fighters. He was also an extremely skilled warrior, using his trademark Hooked Swords to great effect in battle, he also had great agility and was a pretty good strategist (planner). It was the Death of his parents during a Fire Nation raid on his families village by The Rough Rhinos led by Colonel Mongke that had the biggest impact on Jet's life, he grew up hating everything about The Fire Nation and always longed for revenge. He then dedicated himself to doing whatever he could to interrupt and annoy them. He formed the Freedom Fighters to help villages that were being badly affected by The Fire Nation, but he always had revenge in mind always looking for his chance for revenge on The Rough Rhinos. He never told his group of his intentions on revenge so they always followed his every command thinking they were helping those that were being affected by The Fire Nation. The fighters spent their days doing whatever they could to interrupt the Fire Nations operations, but under Jet's leadership they also thought of the Fire Nation emigrants, innocent people who had nothing to do with the Death of Jet's parents accept that they are from the same Nation, as enemies , in a way losing sight of what the Freedom Fighters should stand for. " The Freedom Fighters made a base in the trees of the Forest of Gaipan, where Jet came up with his big plan to get rid of all (soldiers and innocent emigrants) Fire Nation presence in the Area by stealing Blasting jelly and blowing up the dam. Jet's Early Life

When Jet was 8 years old his village was raided by Colonel Mongke and The Rough Rhinos, the village was burned to the ground and Jet's parents were killed, Jet managed to escape but watched on in horror as the events happened. This moment changed him completely he from then on Hated everything and Everyone in the Fire Nation and dedicated his life to revenge and wrecking anything of theirs he could, he trained himself to use Hooked Swords and formed the Freedom Fighters which consisted of other kids like him that have been displaced by the Fire Nation. He couldn't go ahead straight away with his revenge so he and his group began to help other Earth Kingdom Villages that were being affected by The Fire Nation, he never forgot about what they did to his parents and began to even disrupt towns of Fire Nation refugees.
Jet and his Freedom fighters began to focus on an Earth Kingdom town (Gaipan) full of Fire Nation refugees, his plan was to steal blasting jelly and blow up the nearby dam flooding the village. Jet had become misguided, falling further and further away from his goal of revenge on the Rough Rhino's " , he was so angry that he planned to kill a town of innocent people. He had amassed nearly enough blasting jelly.

Jet and his Freedom Fighters are watching a camp of Fire Nation soldiers waiting for their chance to strike, suddenly a group of 3 kids walk into the camp, they are about to be captured when Jet and his group attack from the trees Easily dispatching everyone with ease, during the battle he notes that Katara and Aang are benders and that Sokka is not that great of a warrior. Jet during the fight " annoyed Sokka by taking out the soldiers he was going for. After the fight both groups introduce themselves , Katara immediately develops a crush on Jet, Jet realizes this and plans to use this to his advantage acting very friendly to the group not telling them of his revenge mission. Sokka is the only one who doesn't trust Jet, Jet also notices this and has an Idea to get him on his side. Jet orders his fighters to take the blasting jelly, now he has enough.

He invites Aang, Sokka and Katara to his Treehouse base, at dinner he gives everyone an account of their raid earlier on, it is humorous but gets sinister when he says the Fire Nation are "DEAD WRONG" , Sokk suspects Jet even more. Jet then asks Team Avatar to stay and help for a while, Katara and Aang are about to accept when Sokka cuts in saying they need to move on, Jet knowing Sokka wants to prove himself asks him to join them on a scouting Mission, Sokka agrees. Sokka joins Jet, LongShot and Pipsqueak as they wait in the trees, they spot an old Fire Nation man and Jet orders an ambush as Sokka questions why he is attacking an Innocent man, they rob the man as Sokka again questions what Jet is doing, they return to the Treehouse.

Jet walks in on Sokka telling Aang and Katara about Jet's ambush of the old man, he defends himself telling Aang and Katara that the man was an Assassin sent to kill him with a poisoned Knife, Jet in fact is lying. Jet and his Freedom Fighters go to the Dam and are followed by Sokka, he overhears them discussing the plan to blow the dam, The Duke objects o this killing of innocents until Jet angrily tells him it is to rid the area of Fire Nation, Sokka is then found and he tells Jet how horrific his idea is, after Sokka rejects Jets question asking him to join them he orders Smellerbee and Pipsqueak to imprison him in the forest.

Jet meets with Aang and Katara who are unaware of his evil plan, he asks Katara and Aang to use Waterbending to fill the dam so they can put out Fire Nation fires, they start to bend the water out of the geysers as Jet leaves to set up the blasting jelly, he tells them not to come after him when they are finished. Jet has set up the jelly when Aang and Katara appear having finished quickly, they quickly see Jets plan and are shocked having trusted him and not listened to Sokka. Aang goes to fly to the rescue as Jet takes his glider, Jet attempts to explain that what he is doing is good as a Tearful Katara attacks Jet with water, Aang rushes to get his glider which begins a fight between Aang and Jet. They fight intensely through the trees with Jet using his hooked swords to swing between trees while Aang uses his Airbending. Aang is eventually kicked into a tree branch and Jet damages Aangs glider, Katara then attacks Jet and freezes him to a tree.

Jet whistles the signal to blow the dam. The explosion rocks the land as Aang and Katara are shocked and saddened they couldn't prevent it. Katara furious calls Jet a murder and Jet attempts to explain that he did it to save the valley blinded by his hatred for the Fire Nation just then Sokka arrives on Appa revealing he evacuated the village saving everyone. Jet calls Sokka a traitor with Sokka replying and hitting home " No, Jet. You became the traitor when you stopped protecting innocent people.", Katara betrayed says goodbye leaving him frozen to a tree.
A Changed Freedom Fighter
After his meeting and defeat by Team Avatar, he was changed seeing the error of his ways, he realized that not everyone in the Fire Nation is evil but could still never let it go that they were responsible for the death of his parents. He disbanded most of the Freedom fighters and only traveled with Smellerbee and Longshot, the new Freedom fighter were now truly behind the help people affected by the Fire Nation soldiers motto. He later decided that they should travel to Ba Sing Se to start a new life and his second chance.
The Way To Ba Sing Se

Jet, Smellerbee and Longshot take a ferry to Ba Sing Se, ready to start their second chance. Jet overhears Zuko and Iroh complaining about the terrible food, Jet goes over and introduces himself , they tell him they are Lee and Mushi. Jet tells them that the ferries captain is eating like a king and asks "Lee" if he will join him in stealing food to give to the passengers. Together they all successfully steal food and distribute it around the passengers and themselves. Jet and his friends eat with Zuko and Iroh, Jet tells them that he and his freedom fighters are going to Ba Sing Se to make amends for terrible things they have done before, Iroh agrees that everyone deserves a second chance aiming his words at Zuko.

Jet later talks to Zuko, he tells Zuko that the second he saw the scar he knew he was an outcast just like himself and that they need to stick together and look out for each other, Zuko replies saying he now sees that alone is not the correct path, Jet asks him to join The Freedom Fighters but Zuko refuses. At this moment Jet notices Iroh now has hot tea after previously complaining about how cold it is, he suspects them of being Firebenders and begins to forget about his chance at a new path. Forgetting his pledge to Longshot and Smellerbee he starts to follow Iroh and Zuko and out them as Firebenders, they see this but he assures them that he is then going to turn them into the authorities .
Capture

Jet begins to spy on them at work and in their apartment, and tries to lure them into Firebending, he steals their spark rocks so they will have to Firebend to start a fire, but Iroh and Zuko already know Jet may have saw Iroh heating his tea and are very careful to never firebend. He continues to become more and more obsessed with outing Iroh and Zuko ignoring his promise to Smellerbee and Longshot to not get obsessed and revert to his old ways. Jet has had the final straw and confronts them where they work in the Tea Shop accusing them in front of everyone, no one believes him and they think he is crazy, growing more and more angry at being ignored " he draws his swords knowing that Zuko will have to defend himself with Firebending, Zuko grabs a guards Broadswords and defends his uncle. The fight is very even, Jet is surprised at Zuko skill. The battle rages on as they move onto the streets, each fighter loses a sword and Zuko manages to cut Jet's famous sprig of wheat in half, soon The Dai Li intervenes and takes Jet away as Smellerbee and Longshot look on.

Jet is then taken to the Dai Li's secret headquarters under Lake Laogai, there he is brainwashed by them into thinking that there is no war and to lead Team Avatar away from finding Appa.
Reunion

Jet finds a flyer looking for information about Appa he then begins to search for Aang, Katara or Sokka. He finds Katara putting up flyers he attempts to tell her that he has information but Katara, still Furious after his betrayal during their first meeting attacks him with waterbending, he then throws down his swords as Aang, Sokka and Toph arrive. No one wants to trust him until he says his has information about Appa. He leads them to a storehouse, they find a clump of his hair but he is nowhere to be found, the janitor says Appa was moved to whale Tail Island the day before. They leave the warehouse where Longshot and Smellerbee appear revealing that Jet was captured by the Dai Li, Jet says he wasn't and Toph confirms they are both telling the truth, Sokka then concludes that Jet has been brainwashed. Katara uses her healing abilities on Jet's mind and manages to snap him out of his brainwashed state, together they figure out that the Dai Li's base is under Lake Laogai, they head there to end the conspiracy.

They quickly locate the entrance to the underwater base and head to find Appa, they are soon confronted by Long Feng and his Dai Li agents the fight begins and Aang and Jet rush after the escaping Long Feng, he traps them away from their friends and tells Jet "The Earth King Has Invited You To Lake Laogai" Jet is now brainwashed again and Long Feng demands him to Attack Aang, Aang dodges Jet's sword attacks as he tries to snap Jet out of it, he eventually gets Jet to remember his past as a Freedom Fighter and this brings him back, seeing his chance Jet quickly turns and launches his Sword at Long Feng who dodges and counter attacks gravely wounding Jet with a Earth Pillar to the chest. Long Feng escapes as Aang and Jet's friends enter they crowd around the injured Jet, Katara attempts to heal him but he is too badly injured. Smellerbee tells them to go and find Appa they refuse until Longshot speaks (only ever time he speaks in " the series) saying he and Smellerbee will stay with Jet, they leave. Longshot is shown notching an arrow which could be to put Jet out of his misery and save him a painful death, but presumably they stay with him during his final moments. In the end Jet died doing what the Freedom Fighters were meant to do, Fighting for people who needed help, sadly he could never forget about the pain the death of his parents at the hands of the Fire Nation. He never got his chance to confront Colonel Mongke and his Rough rhinos.
Jet's Legacy
When Zuko tells Katara he knows where to locate the people that killed her mother she becomes intent on revenge to the point that she is almost Identical to Jet, Aang mentions him by name when he compares her to him.

When Team Avatar goes to see the play "The Boy In The Iceberg" by The Ember Island Players, everyone is shocked by the scene of Jet's injury especially Zuko who had not seen him since he was taken prisoner, Zuko asks "did Jet just die ?" Sokka humorously replies "It was really unclear", It was later confirmed that Jet did indeed die.

He finds Katara putting up flyers he attempts to tell her that he has information but Katara, still Furious after his betrayal during their first meeting attacks him with waterbending, he then throws down his swords as Aang, Sokka and Toph arrive. No one wants to trust him until he says his has information about Appa. He leads them to a storehouse, they find a clump of his hair but he is nowhere to be found, the janitor says Appa was moved to whale Tail Island the day before. They leave the warehouse where Longshot and Smellerbee appear revealing that Jet was captured by the Dai Li, Jet says he wasn't and Toph confirms they are both telling the truth, Sokka then concludes that Jet has been brainwashed. Katara uses her healing abilities on Jet's mind and manages to snap him out of his brainwashed state, together they figure out that the Dai Li's base is under Lake Laogai, they head there to end the conspiracy.

They quickly locate the entrance to the underwater base and head to find Appa, they are soon confronted by Long Feng and his Dai Li agents the fight begins and Aang and Jet rush after the escaping Long Feng, he traps them away from their friends and tells Jet "The Earth King Has Invited You To Lake Laogai" Jet is now brainwashed again and Long Feng demands him to Attack Aang, Aang dodges Jet's sword attacks as he tries to snap Jet out of it, he eventually gets Jet to remember his past as a Freedom Fighter and this brings him back, seeing his chance Jet quickly turns and launches his Sword at Long Feng who dodges and counter attacks gravely wounding Jet with a Earth Pillar to the chest. Long Feng escapes as Aang and Jet's friends enter they crowd around the injured Jet, Katara attempts to heal him but he is too badly injured. Smellerbee tells them to go and find Appa they refuse until Longshot speaks (only ever time he speaks in " the series) saying he and Smellerbee will stay with Jet, they leave. Longshot is shown notching an arrow which could be to put Jet out of his misery and save him a painful death, but presumably they stay with him during his final moments. In the end Jet died doing what the Freedom Fighters were meant to do, Fighting for people who needed help, sadly he could never forget about the pain the death of his parents at the hands of the Fire Nation. He never got his chance to confront Colonel Mongke and his Rough rhinos.
Jet's Legacy
When Zuko tells Katara he knows where to locate the people that killed her mother she becomes intent on revenge to the point that she is almost Identical to Jet, Aang mentions him by name when he compares her to him.

When Team Avatar goes to see the play "The Boy In The Iceberg" by The Ember Island Players, everyone is shocked by the scene of Jet's injury especially Zuko who had not seen him since he was taken prisoner, Zuko asks "did Jet just die ?" Sokka humorously replies "It was really unclear", It was later confirmed that Jet did indeed die.

He has a Trademark Sprig of Wheat which he almost always has in his mouth. His Family were killed in a Fire Nation raid on his town by Colonel Mongke and his Rough Rhinos, after this event he developed an intense hatred for the Fire Nation and devoted himself to doing whatever he could to interrupt them and get revenge, after meeting Aang and friends he was changed for the better and eventually died helping them to end the conspiracy in Ba Sing Se.

- The reason it wasn't said in the show that Jet was dead or shown is that Mike and Bryan didn't want to show directly kids being injured or killed, Toph saying Jet was lying when he told Katara he would be ok was there to confirm his death.
