[caption id="attachment_5474" align="alignleft" width="300"] Korra is always ready to take on a challenge[/caption]
Korra is the reincarnated form of Avatar Aang but couldn't be more different than him. Aang was a reflective, peaceful air nomad who struggled with using violence to stop his enemies. Korra on the other hand is very physically expressive and quick to jump to bending to solve issues. Korra is impulsive, headstrong, and independent which helps her take action despite her fears, but also limits her ability to connect with the spiritual side of being the Avatar, something she must struggle to obtain if she wants to reach her full potential. Like Aang though, she is very loyal and possesses a good sense of humor that allows her to win friends and enjoy her challenges.
Korra is very physically and mentally strong. She is always ready to take on a challenge without giving into her fears. This, and her ability to trust her friends, makes her a great leader and decisive avatar. She is tactical, fast, and agile which allows her to dodge larger opponents' assaults giving her great advantage against fighters like the Chi-Blockers.

Korra and The Elements
Korra was quick to learn three out of the four elements, Fire, water, and earth, and they manifested themselves in her early on. At the age of four her family called for a meeting with the White Lotus where she confidently demonstrated to them her abilities with waterbending, firebending, and earthbending. Airbending was a challenge for her due to her lack of patience and restraint. When her bending was taken from her though, Korra was left with nothing but airbending and made an outstanding breakthrough to her airbending skills as well as her connection to her spiritual side.
Along with Korra's impressive bending, she also possesses other important skills that aid her in her journey as the Avatar. She was taught by Katara how to use her waterbending to heal others, and was able to easily heal Bolin's shoulder and General Iroh's arm. Thanks to Aang, she also now knows the forgotten art of energybending (the ability to remove or give someone bending powers). She was able to restore Lin Beifong's earthbending with ease after speaking with Aang and having her own bending restored.

Defending Bending
When Korra first arrives in Republic City, she comes across an equalist protestor and quickly defends bending as "the coolest thing in the world". As she learns more of Amon's outrageous ideas to put a stop to bending, a spark of determination starts in her and she takes on the challenge to defend her state as the avatar as well as her fellow benders. Fear gets the better of her for a moment though when she learns of Amon's threatening power to take bending away. But her determination and duty lead her to prove herself and her abilities when she is tricked into joining Tarrlock's task force.

Korra's fight against Amon is not easy, especially with the lack of trust she finds in Tarrlock. Korra quickly has to turn to her friends for help, who eagerly jump in and offer assistance. Bolin declares them the next "team avatar" after a successful fight against the Chi Blockers. But despite the loyalty of her friends, Korra has to face many challenges on her own - including the discovery of Tarrlok's secret: bloodbending.
When Korra discoveres Tarrloks bloodbending, he kidnaps her and locks her in the mountains. Although imprisoned, this gives Korra valuable time to meditate allowing her to connect with her spiritual side. She then has a vision that brings her to the realization that Tarrlock has a connection with Yakone, an old bloodbender, and ultimately leads her to discover Amon's true identity.

When Amon overtakes Republic City, Korra and Mako have their final encounter with Amon and accuse him of of being a bloodbender and the son of Yakone. He retaliates with full force and bloodbends Korra into his power where he is able to take away her bending. Thinking Korra to be defeated, he walks away, but to his, and Korra's, surprise she attacks him with airbending and reveals his true identity to everyone.
The fight to save bending is over, but Korra delves into depression at the loss of her own bending. In a collapsed, sobbing state, Korra overlooks the ocean and finally finds herself fully connected with her spiritual self. Avatar Aang and the rest of her past selves appear to her and Aang explains, "when we hit our lowest point, we are open to the greatest change." He then returns Korra's bending and she is finally able to go into the Avatar state and bend all four elements at one time.

Love Triangles
After Korra comes out of the Avatar state, she sees Mako standing behind her. When she first met Mako, he didn't even give her a second glance, thinking that she was one of Bolin's Pro-bending "fan girls". As the two got to know each other, Korra quickly fell for him, but Mako fell for the beautiful Asami instead, although secretly admiting he had feelings for Korra as well. Though dating Asami, Mako always kept a protective watch over Korra, and as things got worse for her, he found himself turning his attention to her instead of Asami. As the battle for Republic City intensified, he eventually told Korra she was the most loyal, brave, and selfless person he had ever known. But it wasn't until this moment, Korra's lowest point, that he truly admits his feelings to himself and to Korra. As soon as Korra sees him walking towards her she runs into his arms and he welcomely kisses her.
